I feel like I’m constantly on the hunt for sugar free desserts. I’ve mentioned many times that I cannot eat sugar.
I do anyway, of course. The two most recent encounters resulted in my husband telling me I looked like I got attacked by a swarm of bees and in getting that worst stomach ache ever, respectively.
When I avoid sugar, my skin is clear and my body odor is non-existent at best and floral at worst. When I eat natural sugars, I get a few blemishes. If I eat a lot of sugar or processed sweets, I break out like nobody’s business and, well….I smell toxic. Because my body is toxic when I eat sugar. Both sugar and sweeteners are poison for me and, in my opinion, most if not all people.
The holidays can be really rough when trying to avoid sugar. Treats with a lot of sugar in them don’t even taste good to me, but there is that pull that is always there, plus the expectation of family and friends. I don’t want to even deal with the blemishes I get from honey if I am going to Christmas party after Christmas party, but how do I avoid all the sugar so that I don’t look like I got friendly with a beehive?
It requires self control and support. I’m not going to give advice on those, because what each person needs and the way they can get it is different and beyond the scope of this post. What I find most successful in any situation is to bring my own desserts that are safe and sugar free. But it can be really hard to find recipes that not only are sugar free, but also sweetener free. Here are some sugar free desserts that I love:
Sugar Free Desserts
Allergen-Free Apple Pie from me! (NF, 21DSD)
Coconut Cream Truffles from Delicious Obsessions (AIP, 21DSD)
Fruity Blender Ice Cream from Raia’s Recipes (AIP)

Low Sugar Desserts
If you can tolerate a small amount of natural sugar, or if you just really need some sweetness with a minimal reaction, here are some great options:
Homemade Chocolate – Use this recipe to guarantee the chocolate used in your recipe is made with natural sweeteners and no weird ingredients. Dark chocolate that is 85% cocoa or more is frequently tolerated by sugar-sensitive individuals. It’s really more of a delicious health food than anything else!
Dark Chocolate Truffles from Spirit Healers (NF, EF)
Gingerbread Cookies from The Iron You (EF)
Chocolate Shortbread Cookies from The Paleo Mom (NF)
Allergen Key:
All recipes linked to are grain-free and dairy-free. NF = nut free; EF =egg free; AIP = Autoimmune Protocol friendly – grain, nut, seed, egg, dairy, cocoa free; 21DSD = 21 Day Sugar Detox friendly – no added sweeteners or fruit other than apples and bananas

Unfortunately, for google it still does. I wish I could have shared more, but a search for “sugar free” often brings up recipes FILLED with zero calorie sweeteners. Hopefully this roundup will be one more search result that fights that.
